SOUND & VISION
MATERIALS: paper, pastels, markers, crayons, pencils, Kandinsky examples, music
LEARNING: Through exploring Kandinsky’s visual response to sound students will learn that the elements of art can be utilized to represent a more complex or varied idea of movement through drawing and painting while experiencing an emotional and visual response to sound.
OCEAN-SPACE RESIST
MATERIALS: watercolor paper, spray bottles, pencil, pen, liquid watercolor
LEARNING: Through drawing an ocean scene students will learn that space represents the positive and negative areas on a page while exploring mixed media and a new technique of watercolor painting.
PAPER SCULPTURE
MATERIALS: construction paper, paper clips, glue sticks
LEARNING: Through making a three-dimensional paper sculpture students will learn that a two dimensional surface can be transformed into a three dimensional form by changing the properties of the original shape using your hands to alter the paper.
CONTOUR SELF-PORTRAIT
MATERIALS: pen, paper, mirrors, watercolor, and brushes
LEARNING: Through drawing a self-portrait students will learn that contour describes a technique of drawing where you create an outline that is a continuous line without picking up your drawing tool to build a form.
